Whoa. It’s been a while since we’ve been here on this tumblr, huh? Just wanted to let you know that we record a new song and are releasing it with hopes to raise some money for Respond and Rebuild, who are cleaning up the garbagey moldy mess that Hurricane Sandy left in the Rockaways.
We are not requiring a donation for you to download it (that ain’t our style) but we ARE trying to make you feel guiltyR30;
Where’s that basket full of puppies gonna go if you don’t help?
Also, you’ve only got one more day to donate to a charity for this fiscal year! So shouldn’t you do it? you should! You know you should!!!!!!!

Hey, everyone. In honor of this solo tour I’m doing with my buddies in Andrew Jackson Jihad and Future of the Left, I’ve put together a new solo record. Anyway, get it here and come see me on tour pleeeeeeeez thaaaaaaaaaaanx.

Bomb the Music Industry!
Hey everyone. I’ve been sitting in lil’ office in my apartment working all morning and have decided to take a break to thank everyone for coming out to see us on this tour, especially to those of you who took the time to say hello to us, say nice things, sing along, buy us beer, make us jalapeño tequila (!), give us the local beer or snack in your town, hung out with us although I am pretty confused by the total lack of dance parties and karaoke on this trip, write us letters, let us sleep on your floor even though we were strangers, let us play in your house late after our shows were done, and I don’t know… just keep us company and letting us make some more new friends.
This was a super fun tour. Lots of places we’ve never seen before from cities, to countries to geographical wonders. I believe we did 28 shows in 26 days which is a record for us, but that might be wrong as I do not know how to use a calendar. I’ve got a scar on my hand from trying to make a quesadilla at 3 in the morning in Eureka. John’s got two scars on his hand from trying to open a bottle of wine using a Croc and a streetlight. The rest of us have no new scars I’m pretty sure.
I’ll also ignore the big elephant in the room and say “Uhhhhh WE’LL SEE YOU NEXT TIME REAL SOON OKAY? COMING RIGHT BACK OKAY? COMING RIIIIIIIIGHT BACK. OKAY?̶1;
Seriously though, we had a great time. Thanks for making us feel so welcome, especially in so many new places. Love ya.

We have gotten a lot of nice people saying some very nice things about us. Thank you. We are doing our best to hit a lot of spots one last time, just like we are doing on this tour. So, if you live in a place we have never played, feel bummed out that we will never play there and you can set up a show, please send an e-mail to places@bombthemusicindustry.com. We will do our best to pass through before we hang our hat on the hat hook thing or whatever for good.
ALSO IF YOU BOOK SHOWS ANYWHERE IN EUROPE, PLEASE GET IN TOUCH WITH US. WE REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY WANT TO DO A PROPER EUROPE TOUR BEFORE WE ARE DONE.
ok. thanks again.

This is a weird thing to write that I don’t want to write. But it was agreed on that it would be “mean” if I didn’t… I’ve been putting it off all day, and now that the record collection is alphabetized, all mail-order is done, and my groceries are color-coded seems like I gotta do it. (EDIT: I even waited a full day before posting this. oh boy.)
There’s a very very good chance this upcoming US tour is going to be our last time coming through most of these cities. We all still love each other and love playing music together. There’s no weird rifts or anything. To put it simply, the 9 - 10 months or our lives when we are not playing music are not fantastic. To put it complicatedly, those months are weird vortexes (vortices?) of time where we float in between weird jobs that further us in very little ways as human beings aside from you know, the thrill delivering ten sheets of plexi to celebrity photo shoots (glamorous!) or the satisfaction of doing sound for another Green Day cover band (very glamorous!)… it seems like it’s just time to see if there’s anything out there that can provide us with full-time joy instead of part-time joy.
Keep in mind that Bomb the Music Industry! was never really supposed to be a touring band that put out records, had a steady line-up, made money off of anything, continued anywhere outside of our houses. If it weren’t for the incredibly kind, warm and VERY VERY ENTHUSIASTIC people who have come to see us over the years, we probably would have never really given a shot at touring or playing shows outside of the northeast. And as an added bonus, we’ve met like, all of our best friends scrambling around the country in a van. It’s pretty neat that if we ever feel like running away from all of our problems here in New York and flee to Montana or something, we can call up Grant and go “yo, what’s up, let me crash tonight?” And as a triple-double bonus, the last year or so we’ve made enough money off of this for it to pay a portion of our bills. Didn’t see that coming.
So I guess what I’m saying is words cannot express the gratitude we have for everyone who has helped us out over the years. Big sweaty thanks to everyone.
Also keep in mind that things change. I don’t want anyone to think this is some kinda hoax to get people to see us on this trip or whatever, especially if we end up coming back through your town. We are beautiful complicated fucking snowflakes that blow wherever the wind takes us and you better fucking respect that shit, maaaan. That means we get to take this back if we wanna. Million-Day Return Policy. No questions asked.
Also, there’s still a bunch of things we’d like to do and we’re gonna do our best to do ‘em. Hopefully get to some weird countries we’ve never been to, things like that. I also think we’re making a hardcore record in September. Just look at this as a little heads up that this may be our last lap, and it might be a serious minute ‘til we come back to the track.
And just so this isn’t all bad news for Bomb the Music Industry! listeners (and great news for people who’s friends like us, but they can’t stand us at all but their friends just like, keep putting it on and they’re like “change the record please i’m dyinnnnnnnng”) here is a new song/demo/whatever I finished up a month or two ago. It’s called “80’s Through the 50’s.” Enjoy, see ya in the weird world.

Holy smokes, what a tour! It started with a flight to Australia, ended with the Night Owls Print bosses getting married and had MOTORCYCLE ACCIDENTS! BROKEN BONES! TWO POSSIBLE LAWSUITS! DEBRIDING INFECTIONS! EVICTIONS! DYING PETS! WINDSHIELD MISHAPS! AN OIL CHANGE! RICK JOHNSON!!!
I want to thank everyone who was super kind to us on this tour, especially in places we had never been to before (Dallas + Beloit.) We don’t do this enough, here’s a handful of “photographs8221; from this very dangerous very fun tour.
Touring mates The Smith Street Band drinking some incredibly sweet neon drinks. One of them was called something like Lumiflavor or Electritaste or Voltvomit or something.
The money shot. During two days off in Australia, I decided to take a trip to Bali. After competently riding a motorbike along the south coast for a few hours, I incompetently bailed on a highway. Thankfully, I only broke my clavicle. This photo was taken moments after my buddy Nick cleaned a majority of the wounds out with hand sanitizer.
Oh, and a sunburn of course.
As a Jew, I’d really appreciate it if we were hate-crimed correctly, okay? Or is shit just wacky in the southern hemi?
I’m not entirely sure when and where this picture came from. Perhaps Witt’s house? Oh wait, it’s from Orlando. I can tell from the SUB-PAR Chinese food Matt is eating. That’s right, I said it.
Tom gears up for a sunny day at Hogwarts. Thanks Krystal for the free tickies!
If yr in Alabama, you gotta up the punx. There’s not even enough time to fully extend the anarchy A to the edge of the circle. There’s more electric boxes and more punx to be upped. Go up ‘em.
Who knew books could be funny?
Rick Johnson passes by your friendly neighborhood weapons store to consider a new direction for Mustard Plug.
Let it be known that the Staybridge Suites in Tallahassee literally has free unlimited beer, or at least did the day we stayed there. Free sandwiches too. Also I think Mike stole some macaroni and cheese. Anyway, keep that shit like a secret.
Mike Costa drinks TWO butterbeers, the delicious (but apparently non-alcoholic) beverage that tastes like a Werther’s Original covered in whipped cream. Goes down smooth!
Oh and how can I forget that we saw MOTHERFUCKING JOEY FATONE at Islands of Adventure. Also, isn’t it kind of odd that the dude from N*Sync, a guy who is by all rights a superstar (despite what time period they were popular, you know it’s true) and probably gets bugged all the time would wear a fucking shirt with his name on it to a crowded amusement park filled with kids?
So yeah… fun time! Here’s to hoping the next tour has less threats, pain, and terror! More Joey Fatone!!!

You haven’t heard much from us in a while. It’s like we needed some supercharged force of positivity to bring back the free tunes. Thankfully, Adam Demijirian and his Brave Little Abacus buddies gave us their (sadly) final EP Okumay which is available for download RIGHT HERE RIGHT NOW!!! I can’t stop listening to it. Get into it. Also, here’s a pretty sweet video of their last show. Enjoy! More music to come very soon this time!!!

So… the question is probably why are we playing reunion show? I think a weirder question is what the hell is in the air in 2012 that everyone is playing reunion shows? Does this shit seem weird to you? It’s all a conspiracy, man.
When ASOB broke up, it was pretty messy. Some of us didn’t talk to each other for years. When I came back home from Georgia, it seemed like it would be important for us to have one last show so we could at least put a period on the end of the sentence. We had every member we could get a hold of since the start of the band jump in, we played every song we had ever written, and we all went home and that was that.
Over the past few years though, the dust has really settled. I think when we did that “last show” we still weren’t friends who hung out with each other. We just wanted to have an ending. Obviously I’m still in a band with Mike, but now, I see Dave and JT all the time. I’ve released one of Sean’s records. I haven’t seen Bove in years, but I can’t wait to see him.
And I think that’s the thing for all of us. We like each other again, and thought it would be fun to play together again. This show is a one time thing. There are absolutely no plans to make another record, to go on a big tour anywhere or anything like that. We all like the places we’re at in our lives for the most part. But that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t get together and have one more beer with our friends.

HEY EVERYBODY! We are super excited to tell you that in March we’ll be playing the first three east coast shows Classics of Love have ever done! Then they’re going home. Who’s Classics of Love? It’s Jesse from Operation Ivy (!) making insanely good punk rock with Mike, Morgan and Max from Hard Girls/Shinobu/Pteradon (!!!). Here’s one of their songs:
Also on these shows is Mike Park who I don’t believe has been on the east coast playing music for almost a decade. You’re gonna fuck up BIG by not going to these shows. Here are the dates.
3/16 - Philadelphia @ First Unitarian Church TICKETS
3/17 - Brookyln @ Death By Audio TICKETS
3/18 - Washington DC @ Black Cat TICKETS
I’m adding ticket links because these shows should sell out. We are doing our own ticketing for the Brooklyn show, so play nice. See ya in the pit? That appropriate?
